STEPS TO OBTAINING YOUR FLORIDA CILB CERTIFIED CONTRACTOR LICENSE

You must be at least 18 years old and of good moral character.

You must have four years of experience in the trade which you are applying for.
One of the four years must be as a foreman. The remaining three years may be as a workman or supervisor.
Education may be substituted for some work experience.

All exams are open book. You will use the official CILB reference books to study before the exams and also take them to the test sites.

You must register with Professional Testing Inc at least 30 days prior to your preferred exam date.
The fee to take both the exam for your category and the business and finance exam is $295.

After taking and passing the exam(s), you must complete the application to obtain the license. You will need to provide proof of financial stability and responsibility by submitting personal credit reports. Fingerprinting is also required. The application fee ranges between $149 – $409 depending on the year you apply and the year you passed the exam. All pertinent information will be found on the application.
